Darren Lange

Inducted in 2015

Darren Lange graduated from Upsala High School in 1988 and was a four-year starter in football and a five-year starter in wrestling and baseball. He received multiple all-conference, team MVP, and captain awards in each sport. In football Darren played quarterback, passing for 3,500 plus yards. In wrestling he recorded 95 wins, and in baseball Darren pitched and excelled as a rare to find left-handed catcher. Darren is remembered for his competitive, tough nosed and hardworking drive to be the best athlete and teammate possible.

After graduating, Darren attended Wilmar Community College, receiving a two-year degree in business. While in college he played quarterback and defensive back on the 1988 South Division champion football team and was a pitcher and outfielder in baseball. While in high school, Darren's leadership had a positive impact on the athletic teams and now while a member of the Upsala community his volunteer work as a youth wrestling, baseball and varsity wrestling coach has benefitted those programs as well. Darren is married to Tamara (Brezinka) Lange and they have three children: Mitch, Kyle and Laura. Together in 2003 they purchased Lange Oil. They have shown their support of the Upsala School District through numerous donations that have benefited our educational and athletic activities.

Darren and Tammy are also charter members of UBA (Upsala Ballpark Association). The association that has taken responsibility for building a new baseball field, renovating the city park and is currently making plans for improvements of the Varsity Softball field. He and other UBA members have spent many hours planning and working on the fields with amazing results.
