Loren Holthaus

Loren graduated from Upsala in 1984, competing in wrestling, football, and baseball. He was the first ever Upsala state participant in any sport, going to the wrestling state tournament in 1982 and again in 1984. Loren took 4th place at both of these tournaments. He was also an all-conference winner three times, region champion in 1984, Morrison County Wrestler of the Year in 1982 and 1984, and finished his Upsala wrestling career with a record of 90-8.

Loren also excelled in football and baseball. As quarterback of the football team, Loren earned all-conference honors in 1983 and threw for over 1,100 yards. In baseball, Loren earned all-conference honors in 1984 and led the team in batting average.

After school, Loren taught at Big Lake High School for 32 years. While there, he coached football, baseball, and wrestling for many years. He served as the Head Wrestling Coach from 1998-2013 and coached five wrestlers to individual state championships. He also served as the Head Baseball Coach from 2021-2023.
