On Thursday, October 13 Upsala Area Schools celebrated the 2022 Great Lakes Apple Crunch. The Great Lakes Apple Crunch encourages participants to purchase locally grown apples and collectively crunch into them at the same time.
The Crunch celebrates National Farm to School Month, supports nutritious cafeterias, and highlights food purchased directly from local farms. The apples used were from the Country Blossom Farm in Alexandria.
Farm to School is new to Upsala in the past couple of years. It allows us to purchase locally grown fruit and vegetables from local farmers. This year our vegetables come from a new business right in our area - B & B Produce.
