Four distinguished Upsala alumni were welcomed as the first inductees into the Upsala Hall of Fame in a ceremony held between girls and boys varsity basketball games on Saturday, February 16. Nominated by members of the community, candidates needed to be graduates of Upsala High School, be positive role models for future generations, and have been out of school for a minimum of ten years.  2013 Upsala Athletic Hall of Fame inductees (left to right) Stanley Nordin (son Tom accepting), Dave Holmen, Ralph Soltis (sister Arlene Larson accepting), and Paula Lange. Upsala is seeking nominations for a Hall of Fame. People are encouraged to nominate individuals who have excelled as an Athlete, Coach or a contributing member of the school.
The nomination form is online under extra-curriculars. Or a paper nomination form can be picked up at the high school office or by contacting the Activities Director: Byron Westrich by email bwestrich@upsala.k12.mn.us or phone 573-2176 ext 116.
Categories:
Player: An athlete that has excelled in athletics and has been out of school for at least ten years.
Coach: A coach that has made a positive impact with the Upsala athletic tradition and has been retired from coaching for at least two years.
At Large: A member of the school or community that has made a significant contribution to the Upsala School. (examples would be school employee, volunteer, or other areas)
Nominations need to be submitted by January 15, 2013. The first induction ceremony is planned for Saturday, February 16, 2013. |
